Paper and Pencil

I have been creating collage pieces for years. I am a saver and collector of odd bits and scraps of just about anything that is or resembles paper. Using everything from traditional Japanese washi to found wrappings, newsprint, corrugated cardboard, foil, ribbon, postage stamps, bark and mesh, I create a playful, layered world of organic shapes. I also incorporate graphite, oil paint, watercolor, acrylics, ink and assorted decorative materials into one-of-a-kind greeting cards. Most recently, I started using parts of ink and pen drawings from my childhood that I unearthed during a decluttering binge, along with paintings from college discovered in an old portfolio. In addition, I am sketching figures that harken back to the drawings of my youth. In those days, my girlfriends and I drew a slew of girls and fashions, including cutout paper dolls with clothes.
